OUR JUNE PRODUCTION

What the Constitution Means to Me
By Heidi Schreck
Directed by Lenore Howard
Celebrate our nation’s 250th Anniversary with this endearingly humorous and deeply affecting
autobiographical story of playwright Heidi Schreck. Fifteen-year-old Heidi earned her college tuition by winning American Legion U. S. Constitutional debate contests across the nation. Reflecting on those years, middle-age Heidi examines the personal and the political, connecting the experiences of women from her own family history and making abstract law deeply human. In the end, the play challenges us to reconsider the relevance of our U.S. Constitution.
*Due to some mature content discussed in the play: recommended for high school age and older. Or viewer discretion.

“Brilliantly digressive, insistently personal. The play is a both a winsome love letter to and worried
critique of one of the nation’s founding documents.”
